Solstice and renewal time is upon us!
A time of cleansing and starting afresh.
The winter solstice is the shortest day of sunlight a year and the longest night. Since the summer solstice we have gradually lost a little daylight everyday (at least here on the top of the planet). The Winter Solstice marks that the the long wait is coming to an end and the days will now start getting longer with a little more sunlight everyday.
Our ancestors from all over the world celebrated this time of year with different "bringing of the light" celebrations and events. Some of these events we are already familiar with.
Yule is a norse celebration that most of us are familiar with. One tradition of yule was the bringing evergreens, (a symbol of resilience) into the home during the cold months to protect the household during trying times.
Another tradition many of heard of, but the story is not always well known is "Sol Invictus" which the shortened version of "Mithra Dies Natalis Sol Invicti" which essential means"unconquered sun" to the Roman Mithran cult and was celebrated in Rome. This was an important spiritual time for Romans and events and rites during "Saturnalia" which was a festival for the god Saturn where old grudges were put into the past, gifts and candles were given to chase away the darkness and social roles became equal and "deliberately reversed" (Cole,140).
How do these tie in with your crate this month?
In your crate I have given you a real garnet, howlite, snowflake obsidian, snow quartz, for deluxe and standard additional and larger crystals as well as a handmade shower steamer. The more deluxe versions have some additional items I will discuss once the recipients have had a chance to see their boxes. Edit* Standard version included a tree of life necklace, ruby in zioside and larger versions of the same crystals.
This month's box focuses on cleansing crystals, protection and self-cleansing tools. Below I will describe all of the items individually so you get a chance to know all of your crystals and a little about them.

Scented shower steamer--
One of your items is a lovely that you can use to relax your senses and cleanse your thoughts and mind. Use when you have a little time to clear your mind and deliberately use your shower time to think or your own renewal for the season's change. These steamers sit in the back of your shower so they slowly melt, they are like a bath bomb for the shower. They were made by a lovely friend whom makes essential oil products. Her company is called "A Splash of Oils" and you can find her and her her lovely products if you click on the name! To use your shower steamer, put just out of direct shower stream. The essential oils slowly release while you enjoy your cleansing and rejuvenation shower.
Garnet Emotional Healing Energy- (Base and crown chakra)
Garnet provides a protective influence and a calming stable vitality during use. [Melody, 291] It is thought to heal emotional problems. Placed under a pillow, Garnet is reputed to alleviate bad dreams. Medicine men used it to cure mental depression. [Mella, 85]
Garnet is useful to have in a crisis, particularly in situations where there seems to be no way out or where life has fragmented.
It fortifies, activates, and strengthens the survival instinct, bringing courage and hope into those situations. Crisis is turned into challenge under Garnet's influence and promotes mutual assistance in times of trouble. [Hall, 136]
Garnet can act as a strong help to balance the energy system, stimulate desires and uplift your attitude. As a balancer stone, Garnet can prevent fears of insecurity and even money losses. They're lucky stones: lucky for love, success, and for goals. Use Garnet to increase your positivity and popularity, thus enhancing your personal self-esteem. As an energy stone, it can encourage success in business and business relationships. It is a wonderful executive gem, especially for women. [Mella, 86] Square cut garnets are particularly useful in bringing success in business matters. [Hall, 136]
Howlite Healing Properties- (Crown chakra)
Howlite is a Guardian Crystal and a feminine energy stone. Guardian crystals are used in the physical world to protect your loved ones, your possessions, and your physical security
Howlite, which is often known as a potent guardian stone, is also a Harmonizer stone. For efforts aimed at smoothing a path through difficulties, or aiding in promoting a harmonious relationship within a larger group, like an extended family, then a Harmonizer is an excellent choice. Howlite also brings you Metal elemental energy. Metal energy is traditionally associated with the northwest and west areas of a home or room. It is the energy of togetherness and crystallization - of ideas, of concepts, and of groups. Use Howlite to enhance any space that you use for concentration, gathering strength, or working with a group.
Use them to experience and appreciate the cyclic nature of the universe. The white crystals are of the spiritual world that is sensed but not seen. White crystals are guides when we don’t know where we are going. They are the guides to understanding and knowledge that we don’t even know exists.
Snowflake Obsidian- (Root/Base Chakra)
A stone of purity, Snowflake Obsidian brings about a balance to body, mind and spirit. Snowflake Obsidian helps to keep centered and focused when any type of chaotic situation (office, commute, home, etc.) presents itself. Snowflake Obsidian can remove negativity from a space or person with ease. Volcanic in origin, Snowflake Obsidian helps to draw emotions to the surface and to examine harmful thought patterns. A good choice for past life work, Snowflake Obsidian heals old karmic patterns and helps in examining harmful thought patterns. Snowflake Obsidian promotes a sense of calm and inner centering which readies one for a deep meditative state. Ancients believed these stones to be alive, taking a breath once every hundred years or so, and many cultures thought them to be incarnations of the Divine.
Today's healers agree, believing crystals are living beings, incredibly old and wise, and willing to communicate when an individual is open and ready to receive. Wearing, carrying or meditating with a Clear Quartz crystal opens the mind and heart to higher guidance, allowing the realm of Spirit to be transmitted and translated into the world of physical form.
